Helped support the Healing with Weaving Community Outreach Projects

Children’s Mercy Frame Loom Healing with Weaving Project

Currently, I am looking for funding for Healing with Weaving’s first Frame Loom Weaving Project. This community outreach project to help provide Healing with Weaving Frame Loom Weaving Kits with a laser-cut wood frame loom, yarn supplies, and instructions on how to weave. The goal is to start off with making and 200 looms that would be available to the children at the hospital, their family members, and any staff that would be interested in this portable weaving activity. I would like to provide three workshops for staff and family members as well. The estimating cost to help fund this summer project is around $1,500.

Arts KC Inspiration Grant (2015)

$1000

Debbie Barrett-Jones: ($1,000) These Inspiration Grant funds will be used by textile artist Debbie Barrett-Jones to commission a graphic designer and photographer to take professional photographs and create a well-thought-out design for her website, brochure, and postcards. These marketing tools will aid in the launch of "Healing with Weaving," a program catering to hospitals, counseling facilities, and places of worship. This program raises awareness on the importance of how the making and viewing of art can be utilized for healing and therapy. Debbie’s work and mission have been shared at Truman Medical Center, Children's Mercy Hospital, and neighboring churches.
